Next, immerse yourself in Lampang’s timeless charm with a classic horse-drawn carriage ride—a local signature—taking in the city’s peaceful ambiance and traditional way of life. We then journey onward to Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat (The Floating Pagodas of Lampang).
Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious local lunch before starting your ascent. A local shuttle service will transport you to the trailheads, followed by a scenic walk up the stairs toward the mountain peak. Once at the summit, pay homage to the relics, take in the breathtaking white pagodas perched dramatically on the cliffs, and absorb the stunning panoramic mountain views before our comfortable drive back to Chiang Mai.
Itinerary
06:30 AM – Hotel Pickup in Chiang Mai
Meet your driver/guide at your Chiang Mai hotel and set off on a comfortable drive to Lampang.
08:00 AM – Wat Phra That Lampang Luang
Explore one of Northern Thailand's most revered temples. Pay respects to the sacred relics, admire the authentic Lanna architecture, and witness the unique inverted reflection of the pagoda.
09:15 AM – Traditional Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride
Head into Lampang town to experience its iconic charm firsthand. Enjoy a relaxing horse carriage ride, soaking in the local atmosphere and city landmarks.
10:00 AM – Depart for Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat
Leave the town center and head toward Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat (approx. 1.5-hour drive).
11:30 AM – Local Lunch
Savor an authentic local lunch at a recommended restaurant near the temple area.
12:30 PM – Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Ascent
Arrive at the base and board the local 4WD shuttle service up to the main trail starting point.
12:45 PM – Walk to the Sky Pagodas
Begin a scenic walk up the mountain trail and stairs (approx. 540 meters / 30-minute walk) with resting spots provided along the way.
01:15 PM – Sky Pagodas & Mountain Viewpoint
Reach the peak to pay homage to the high-altitude pagodas. Enjoy leisure time to photograph the miraculous pagodas perched on limestone cliffs and take in the 360-degree mountain views.
02:15 PM – Mountain Descent
Walk down the trail and catch the shuttle service back to the main parking area.
02:45 PM – Return Drive to Chiang Mai
Depart Lampang for the journey back to Chiang Mai (approx. 2.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions).
05:30 PM – 06:30 PM – Hotel Drop-off
Arrive safely back in Chiang Mai with a direct transfer to your hotel.
